Mary Kate Flaherty, CFP®

Mary Kate Flaherty is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, CFP® is the Founder and Portfolio Manager of MKF Private Wealth Management. She has an extensive background in wealth management with particular depth in multi-generational planning. She is focused on delivering sound financial solutions and maintaining strong personal relationships with her clients. Mary Kate specializes in managing high-net-worth relationships grounded in comprehensive financial strategies. This includes asset management, tax, trust and estate planning, business succession and other wealth and income strategies.

Mary Kate has nearly 15 years of experience in the industry as an analyst and then with Charles Schwab as a trader and advisor for high net-worth clientele. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in both finance and biological sciences from the University of Denver with a minor in Spanish. She considers herself a lifelong learner and continues to pursue additional education and designations. Mary Kate is finishing the Chartered Market Technician designation and she hopes to pursue the Certified Financial Analyst designation when her other activities slow down! She manages portfolios in a specialized risk adjusted and tax-efficient manner. As a dedicated student of the markets, building portfolios and doing investment research is Mary Kate’s passion.

Outside of her professional pursuits, Mary Kate loves spending time with family and friends. She finds joy in skiing, boating, golfing, bowling and playing strategic board games.

EDUCATION

• Mary Kate attended the University of Denver, graduating Magna Cum Laude with majors in both finance and biological sciences, complemented by a minor in Spanish.
• As a Cherrington Global Scholar, Mary Kate’s studies were partially funded when she attended the Universidad de Granada in Spain.
• Mary Kate was selected to be one of 15 students to manage the endowment portfolio of the University of Denver’s Reiman Investment Fund.
• She received a certificate of merit in economics and finance from the London School of Economics.
• Mary Kate attended the University of Minnesota- Carlson School of Business to take advanced marketing and economics courses in the summer of 2009.
• She is a proud graduate of Shattuck-St. Mary’s boarding school in Faribault, Minnesota.
• Mary Kate was an active member in the Delta Gamma Fraternity at the University of Denver as Vice-President of Panhellenic Relations and still enjoys being part of the community and alumni activities. Her business logo derives from her interest in boating and the Delta Gamma symbol of the anchor for the fraternity.
